Those of you who are mothers, this post is for you!

If you have been following this blog after my daughter McKennah’s homecoming then you know I am no writer like her, however here goes.

I have been thinking a lot lately about this Mother's Day and trying to make sense of what I am feeling and honestly I was about to say to heck with this world and to heck with watching all of my friends enjoy their Mother’s Day with their brood.

Where will be the flowers and cards be from my sweet baby girl? Oh, I know I still have my son on this side of heaven and I look forward to having a Pleasant call and a nice gift. But if you ask my mother’s heart what I’m longing for it’s the sweet sound of my daughter’s voice. Saying, “I Love You, Mom.

God‘a Word is a light to our path even when the path is so dark. Sometimes it's a dark, awful experience or darkness because our eyes are too dim to see what God is doing all around us. Below is one of my favorite scriptures.

“ “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This scripture helps me know that all my whys will be answered someday. Until then...........

What is permanent?

or

What is eternal?

I want to talk about the BLESSING. What do I mean when I say "passing on the blessing?" The blessing I'm speaking about is Salvation in Christ. If you have experienced it for yourself you know nothing could be more important to pass to your children. Salvation is the only lesson that is ETERNAL. There are so many opportunities to teach and share this Faith to our children. When do we have time to do it? WE ARE DOING IT EVERY MINUTE OF EVERYDAY

Did I do my best to teach my daughter and my son that lesson? I ask myself often especially when I read or hear on christian radio about these SUPER MOMS who seem to do nothing more with their day but have all day bible studies and make parables from every outing to the zoo etc.....

As I thought about Mother's Day and what this means to me in light of being a mother who lost her daughter so young to cancer. I battle with thoughts about failing to protect her from a deadly cancer, that is typically caused by sun exposure. Putting my feelings of failure aside, I'd rather think on the Eternal. What did I do as a mother? Did I lose the battle to protect my child? Or.....did I do my best to give my children all I knew they needed to take her place in heaven with Jesus? I couldn't be prouder of how McKennah not only made her own choice to follow her Lord and Savior to the very end of her life BUT she also made every opportunity to point others to Jesus Christ. So I chose this last Mother's Day to not listen to the lies in my head that were telling me I failed as a mother because I didn't protect her from disease plus all the pain and suffering she endured in this life. I allowed myself to feel some grace and as well as a bit of pride for knowing that Mckennah is in the BEST place of all with her CREATOR and Her heavenly FATHER. I passed on the "Blessing"!

On a side note

McKennah was a rather talented watercolor painter. She didn't do a lot of paintings but there are a few very nice ones. I'm collecting them together and will find a good print shop and have copies made. They will be available for sale soon. We are not wanting to make a profit from these but we want to share her talent with her friends and followers. The proceeds will be used to help my husband and I make a dream trip with our church to the Holy Land in November. McKennah went in 2017 and it was a faith boosting and an amazing trip.
